Timestamps:

Timestamp: (0:00). Intro and my base views and personal beliefs (for those new to the show or trying to figure out what I’m really about trust me, I’m completely transparent).

Timestamp: (8:24). Programming note: no episode next week! I’ll be on a cruise.

Timestamp: (10:13). About that government shutdown.

Timestamp: (16:58). Let’s talk about the Hegseth/Trump meeting with the 800 generals and admirals. My views probably aren’t what you expect on that, and it’s not a view I’ve seen anywhere. (Maybe it’s the Marine in me?)

Timestamp: (1:01:36). More about the proposed Israel-Gaza peace deal has emerged, and support for the plan seems to be growing.

Timestamp: (1:08:14). How is Europe responding to Russia? And how’s the gasoline shortage in Russia currently going?

Timestamp: (1:16:35). Let’s end with some Biblical wisdom and spiritual encouragement.

If you’re new to the show, here’s what I’m doing.

Each week in my podcast, I cover politics, national security, and obscure military matters outside the news. I also do my best to lower your blood pressure, as I avoid clickbait.

Finally, I end each show by sharing some Biblical wisdom.

My hope is that you end each show better informed, less worried, and more optimistic (about both our country and your life).

Also, huge shout out to those of you whose paid subscriptions make it possible for me to devote time and resources to researching and compiling the news each week. Yes, I work a full-time job and squeeze these podcasts out on my free-time. And yes, I’d like to do this full-time! 🤣

If you’d like to help make that happen, you can support the show in several ways.

My preferred way is for you to subscribe through Substack: https://stanrmitchell.substack.com/subscribe.

You can sign up for free email alerts below if you haven’t already. And if you can chip in some support by subscribing below, I’d be honored.

You can also now sign up at Patreon, if you have an account there: https://www.patreon.com/stanrmitchell

Finally, you can send tips through:

One final way you can support me is by checking out my books — I’ve written twelve of them (and they’re fast-paced and exciting) on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/stores/Stan-R.-Mitchell/author/B0077BNGPG or, you can rate and review the show on APPLE, SPOTIFY, or wherever you listen.

You can listen from this page (in the player above), or you can find the podcast on your favorite channel by clicking the links below or searching for The View from the Front wherever you listen:

Have a question? Email me at stanrmitchell2012@gmail.com. Please include at least your first name and city. (Or you can share your full name if you want to get a little famous.)

A big preference is shown toward voice memos that are sent in. Keep them short and pithy, and I might just play them!

IMPORTANT PROGRAMMING MESSAGE:

No episode next week; I will be on a cruise!

U.S. news:

Trump’s remarks from 2011.

USA Today: Can undocumented immigrants get ‘free health care’ or Medicaid?

No clapping?

NYTimes: “The Pentagon’s senior military leaders had warned the officers not to react or cheer, per the norms of what is supposed to be a nonpartisan military.”

I respectfully think the fears are over-hyped. The Trump Administration is losing steam. They’re afraid to even have the House in session or seat a newly elected Congress member.

The American people will never give in to a govt that doesn’t respect their voices.

Keep the faith and stay engaged.

Middle East news:

Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, supports Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza. The deal includes releasing all Israeli hostages and more than 200 Palestinians serving life sentences in Israel, as well as the demilitarization of Gaza.

Potential holdouts for the plan include Hamas and far-right religious nationalists in Netanyahu’s government.

New York Times Editorial: This Terrible War Must End

The war in Gaza, now approaching its second anniversary, needs to end.

It needs to end for the people of Gaza, more than 60,000 of whom — roughly 3 percent of the population — have been killed. The victims include entire families and thousands of children. Neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble. Most Gazans have been displaced from their homes. Starvation and illness haunt the strip.

The war needs to end for the nearly 50 Israeli hostages whom Hamas is still holding in Gaza. Those who remain alive are being held in brutal conditions, often underground, without adequate food. They have been held captive for more than 700 days, since the Oct. 7, 2023, attack that killed about 1,200 Israelis and others.

The war needs to end for the sake of Israel and its security. The horrors that it has inflicted in Gaza have contributed to a sharp decline of support for Israel in the United States and elsewhere. Any additional military gains against Hamas pale in comparison with the long-term strategic threats from global isolation.

"The Foreign Ministers of the State of Qatar, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of Turkey, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab Republic of Egypt welcome President Donald J Trump's leadership and his sincere efforts to end the war in Gaza, and assert their confidence in his ability to find a path to peace.
They emphasize the importance of the partnership with the United States in securing peace in the region. Along these lines, the ministers welcome the announcement by President Trump regarding his proposal to end the war, rebuild Gaza, prevent the displacement of the Palestinian people and advance a comprehensive peace, as well as his announcement that he will not allow the annexation of the West Bank.
The ministers affirm their readiness to engage positively and constructively with the United States and the parties toward finalizing the agreement and ensuring its implementation, in a manner that ensures peace, security, and stability for the peoples of the region.
They reaffirm their joint commitment to work with the United States to end the war in Gaza through a comprehensive deal that ensures unrestricted delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid to Gaza, no displacement of the Palestinians, the release of hostages, a security mechanism that guarantees the security of all sides, full Israeli withdrawal, rebuilds Gaza and creates a path for a just peace on the basis of the two state solution, under which Gaza is fully integrated with the West Bank in a Palestinian state in accordance with international law as key to achieving regional stability and security.

Ukraine/Russia news:

Let’s end with some notes on faith

As you know, if you want true peace, I believe you should look to God and the Bible for that — not a country, not a party, and certainly not an earthly leader, such as our President or the leader of whatever political party you prefer.

I believe that not only can God give you ever-lasting life, but that He can also give you peace in this life. God is like a good shepherd. He leads you by the still waters. He restores your soul. He guides you out of the death and destruction of sin. If you know nothing about the Bible, but want to test the waters and maybe try it out, check out my resource page here.

By the way, if you’re dealing with depression, PTSD, or thoughts of suicide, I have a link I’d like you to check out. It’s an encouraging pep talk that I believe will help. It also has the hotline that you can call, whether you’re a service member or just a civilian. Here’s the link for that page: PTSD.

Prayer:

Reminder: If you know nothing about the Bible, but want to read some of it for the first time in a while (or maybe ever), check out my resource page here. I know it’s a big book that can seem overwhelming, but that link can help you. And yes, you can read it from a phone, computer, laptop, etc. (See my link above.)

I also have a podcast that focuses solely on faith called The Search for God. You can find it below.

Love my moderate, optimistic view of politics and want to know more about how I see things?

I always like to end with an important reminder, whether you’re a Christian or not.

To God be the Glory,

Stan R. Mitchell

P.S. Don’t forget that I've also written twelve fast, exciting books. Buying books (or recommending them to a friend) is a great way to support the show.

You can find all of my books on Amazon, by searching my name Stan R. Mitchell, or by following this link: https://www.amazon.com/stores/Stan-R.-Mitchell/author/B0077BNGPG.

I’ve written 12 of them to date, and they include a CIA/Marine sniper series, a detective series, a private investigator series, an action-packed Western, a motivational self-help book about President Obama, and two realistic war novels: one about World War II and one about Afghanistan.
